Jack-in-the-Green

2005 original size 5" x 4"

This is based on the Jack-in-the-Green figures often seen at May Day festivals. His face is surrounded by the traditional hawthorn leaves. Hawthorn was used in many May Day celebrations and was thought to help protect from evil spirits.

It was believed that the Hawthorn was the plant most likely to be inhabited by fairies. Gifts of rags or ribbons were once tied to hawthorns as a May Day gift to them.

This is the official company logo for Jack-in-the-Green.
